He offered himself as a sacrifice to reconcile us to God. Ephesians 5:2, Mark 10:45, and many more bible verses are to bolster this. Today, He is in heaven making intercession for mankind, as seen in Romans 8:34, 1 John 2:1, and Hebrews 7:25.
Hebrews 7:13-17 talks about Jesus; stating, “You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.”
Furthermore, He fulfills the criteria of a high priest in that: Jesus teaches the law (Matthew 5:21-20), He purifies the unclean (1 John 1:7, Hebrews 9:13-14, John 17:17), He cleanses the temple (Matthew 21:12-27), He forgives sins (1 John 1:9), and he prays for His disciples (John 17:9).
