Luke 2:8-12 narrates the announcement of Jesus’ birth like this, “And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.” But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for everyone. Today in the town of David a savior has been born to you; he is the messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in clothes and lying in a manger.
Isaiah 9:6-7 gave a further insight into the future action of the child. “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given and the government will be on his shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.”
This is who the world needs now—peace in tumultuous situations.
