Abundance

What is an abundance? It is an extremely plentiful or over-sufficient quantity or supply, according to Dictionary.com. “God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times having all that you need, you will abound in every good work,” 2 Corinthians 9:8. In another vein, abundance can be elusive, and John 10:10 stresses this when Jesus said that the thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy (whatever abundance we might have.) However, he encourages us to have hope in the one who said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

Furthermore, Ephesians 3:20 reiterated what abundance would look like, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurable more than we ask or imagine according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus. Throughout all generations forever and ever, Amen.” Then, Psalm 126:2-3 states the composure of people enjoying abundance, “Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations. ‘The lord had done great things for them.’”

Deuteronomy 28:11 promises that the Lord will “grant you abundant prosperity in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground – in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you.”

In conclusion, God’s plan from the previous biblical passages shows that He wishes us to always live in abundance in all we have. He brings abundance to all he does for us. Therefore, we can safely say an abundant life is having a relationship with God.

Then we wonder, how can we have a relationship with God? Abraham and Isaac had a relationship with God, how can we too? We will continue this discussion in our next post on October 14, thank you for reading.
