To have a relationship with Him, we must obey and be devoted to God. This standard applies to all who will come to the full knowledge of God, for example:
In Genesis 12, Abram encountered God when he said, “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house to a land I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you, and in you, all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Abram obeyed God and became rich in livestock, silver, and gold.
Next, I’d like for us to look at Isaac’s actions. In Genesis 26, there was a famine in the land, and Isaac went to the King Abimelech King of the Philistines in Gerar. Then the lord appeared to him and said, “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land I shall tell you. Dwell in this land and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants, I will give all these lands and will perform the oath I swore to Abraham your father. I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands, and in your seed, all the nations of the earth shall be blessed because Abraham obeyed my voice and kept my charge, my commandment. My statutes, and my laws.”
So Isaac dwelt in Gerar instead of going to Egypt and sowed his seed in the land in obedience to God. He found favor in the King and the people, and after many antagonisms, his seed yielded a hundredfold.
God desires always to bless us, listen to what he said in Deuteronomy 8:7-9, “For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land. A land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills; a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil, and honey; a land where bread will not be scarce and you will lack nothing; a land where the rocks are iron and you can dig copper out of the hills.”
The only instruction in Deuteronomy 8:10 is that when you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you, as Abraham and his son Isaac did.
