For these past weeks, I have been expounding on the topic “Titles of Jesus.” I continue today with the concluding part, “Jesus as Rabbi and as Son of Man”
John 1:38 translates Rabbi to mean teacher. Luke 4:16-37 describes Jesus teaching regularly in the synagogue. Furthermore, Mark 1:21-28 describes Jesus’ teaching and healing in the temple.
He taught the multitude that followed him, in parables and instructed a large crowd by the lake, as recounted in Mark 4:1-2.
“As Son of Man”; In Matthew 8:20 and Luke 9:58, Jesus describes himself as the Son of Man. Furthermore, John 3:13 expatiated the son of man to include the divine when he said, “No one has gone up to heaven except the one who ascended from heaven – the Son of Man.” emphasizing the double part of Jesus Christ, where he is both human and divine. As a human being, he wept when he walked the earth. (John 11:35; Luke 19:41; Hebrews 5:7-9)
Ephesians 1:7 and Hebrews 9:12 called him the redeemer of mankind. Galatians 3:13 contributed in that it states, “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law.” Hebrews 9:15 concludes these expositions by saying “Today he is a mediator in heaven.”
Thank you once again for coming to read today’s blog post. The next post will be out on September 18th.
