The promises of God are abundantly stated in the bible. All those who will come to God and remain with Him throughout their lives will enjoy these promises. Our focus in the next two posts will be on the promises of the divine health and divine provision.
Exodus 15:26 (NIV) states, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in His eyes if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.” This idea is further fortified in Exodus 23:25-26, as it states that we should, “worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you, and none will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will give you a full lifespan.” Moreover, “The Lord will keep you free from every disease you know in Egypt, but he will inflict them on all who hate you.” (Deuteronomy 7:15). These statements made us understand that there are conditions to be fulfilled for us to enjoy the promises of God.
An instance of this is with the blind Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-52), where he cried out “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” and Jesus asked him what he wanted to be done to him. Bartimaeus replied, “Rabbi, I want to see” and Jesus said, “Go. Your faith has healed you.” He received his sight immediately and followed Jesus.
Other examples include the woman with the issue of blood (Matthew 9:20-22), the man who was let down through the roof by his friends (Mark 2:1-14), and the centurion servant in Matthew 8:5-13 and Luke 7:1-10. These people were only healed because of their strong faith and belief in the healing grace of God.
Thank you for reading once again! The next post will be out on August 19th.
